We wanted to give new life to our home by preserving its original integrity and beauty, respecting the territory and its identity.
History in every corner
The residence was entirely built out of stone using a similar technique to the one used to build the trulli. The residence welcomes guests within its white walls of lime and its pavilion vault, cool and restful environments which ensure a true relaxing experience.
Originally the casina consisted of a living room, kitchen, bedroom and cellar, under which there was the precious cistern, the largest in the district, which collected rainwater.
During the rain, the rounded roof allowed the water to be conveyed towards the cistern, guaranteeing a vital supply in a drought-prone land like that of Puglia.
Cisternino
Among the Trulli of the Itria Valley
Contrada Marinelli, a hamlet of Cisternino, is immersed in the trulli of the Itria Valley.
A place where the sky is turquoise, the earth is red and the villages are made of white lime … a place where you will discover that all the colors are more alive… in a red and sunny land, rich of nature’s treasures, history, traditions, food and sounds.
The square in the Marinelli district with its shady oak tree tells of a time when life had a slow pace.
Marinelli is also the hometown of the Servant of God Francesco Convertini, a Salesian missionary who died in India in 1976 in the odour of sanctity. To venerate his memory the district is often animated by evocative events and prayer meetings in his honor:
- prayer meeting on the 29th of every month
- in February the Peace March
- in July the patronal feast and the Gnumeriedde and Ciervellet festival
- in August the night torchlight procession
A stone’s throw from the Quercia stands Dimora San Quirico, with its ancient walls and green lawn to welcome guests and pamper them in an atmosphere of silence and relaxation.
