History

On the last edge of the south-eastern Murgia of Puglia (394 m above sea level), it faces south-west on the Itria valley studded with trulli and has about 11 thousand and 500 inhabitants. Tourism in Cisternino has developed in the last decade thanks to the only good of this small center: the nature, the landscape, the trulli and the spontaneous architecture of the historic center. Cisternino is among “The most beautiful villages in Italy”, adheres to “Green Flag Agriculture”, “Orange Flag of the Italian Touring Club” and is part of the international network of “Cittaslow”.
